Gathering as many deer hides as Leland had requested had been no small task. The creatures were vicious, and Cassandra had to adopt more caution after finding herself forced to lie to Face about her goals. Still, she had acquired the deer carcasses, and spent some time in the woods divesting them of the fur.
That had been but minutes ago. Now, she was moving quickly, the furs draped over her arms, her armored boots hitting the ground in a rapid rhythm. She had to bring these to the store before the mage could get there. He could not be allowed to attain the phylactery; that was the one thing of which she was certain.
